Resolved Question: What's the point of reincarnation?

10 December 2009, 9:57 am

I was reading about it & it really made no sense to me at all. What's the point of reincarnation if we don't remember anything from our past-lives? Reincarnationists respond saying, "We don't remember because our minds would collapse if we did so" It's a nice try to somehow explain away, but the point is not yet clear. If I don't remember what I learned in my past life, what's the point of coming to a "HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS"? Suppose I learned Computer in my past life, what's the point if I forget it in my next life? Isn't forgetting what I learned in my previous life equal to learning the same thing again? If I don't remember anymore how the computer works, I would have to learn it again from THE BEGINNING. And if I don’t remember anything, who knows I might make the same mistake again? Some of the reincarnationists say that we are born with a higher consciousness, how can one be sure of that since we always learn something? Now reincarnationists post up passages from Bhagavat Gita where Krishna said that those who were blind wouldn't be able to understand it. But from what angle & in which logical way does it sound to make sense since we all forget what we learned in our previous lives? And it DOESN’T answer why evilness still exists & why every human being, regardless of what faith he or she may belong to, makes mistake? Why do we always sin? Does reincarnationists have answer to it? The Bible, on the other hand makes sense because the Bible says that man is born with the tendency of sinning. Edit: - To all those who believe we remember past lives@ There is a GOOD scientific reason as well as a Biblical reason why we "feel" like we remember our past lives. Daniel - Mr. Ripley@ You also refuse to acknowledge what the Bible actually teaches. The Bible doesn't anywhere state we're sinners for being born, it simply states that we're born with the nature. Two are vastly different. Moreover, you simple ignored my point. How can you learn something in next life if you don't remember your past lives? We learn from our mistakes, but if we don't remember the past, how can we learn? And how can you know for sure what you "feel" like past lives were REALLY yours? Most of the atheists I've conversed with regarding this matter seem to rule it out of science saying, "It's a religious belief"... Read More »
